Titanic Quarter's Development Framework envisages a ‘city quarter' grid structure of streets of similar scale to the city centre, together with a mix of land uses including the following: - Up to 5000 dwellings including apartments and townhouses
- A high quality business quarter. The total business/office/R&D floor space will be 180,000m²
- Commercial development of some 130,000m²
- The Titanic Signature Project
- A major third level education campus
- Restoration of the former H&W HQ
- Creation of a ‘Gateway' hotel at the entrance to Titanic Quarter at Abercorn Basin
- Leisure developments including restaurants, café/bars and health and fitness clubs up to 41,000m²
- Other commercial uses including a high quality car retail park
- Provision of a cruise liner berth and ancillary facilities for tourism
- Local services and business support including local retail, health care, crèches and day nurseries
Public Transport, Pedestrian and Cycle Access The infrastructure has been designed to accommodate high quality forms of public transport. Whilst dedicated bus services will be provided initially the transportation infrastructure will be designed to allow for the potential introduction of light rapid transport systms. Pedestrian walkways and cycle routes will also be provided. Public Realm and Public Squares A network of open spaces and landscaped areas will be provided as an integral part of the development. A new major square will be created in front of the former H&W HQ building. Other squares and green spaces will be provided within the various developments.
